On the road again! Willie who?

After a great trip - where the 28 hours went pretty well - primarily thanks to Air NZ and Premium Economy - we arrived here last night at Midnight.

Hotel is fine - and we set the alarm so that the body clocks can start adjusting. Great to be awoken @ 8 after only 7 hous sleep. We hit the road running.

After searching some time for breakfast, we settled on Dunkin Donuts would you believe - where Chris had a muffin with egg and bacon and I had a bagel the same - although I gave Chris my cheese in a sign of respect to this shrine of a body!! Pleasingly we were able to substitute the coffee for tea - and the tea was great.

After that, hit the deck with an on/off Trolley tour. We chose that particular one as the second day is free (surprised??). It was great as we did the full circuit, listened to the history of the place, then went on a photographic extension by foot. Plan to sleep longer tonight. Much the same tomorrow. The weather is fine with a crisp blue sky but a bracing wind that makes the 16 deg seem like about 8. About is pronounced ''aboat' here btw, as it is a much harsher accent than I imagined. Worse for them, they have no idea whatsoever what we are saying - and that might be just as well at times!

Place is very busy and many of the buildingas are interesting particularly the older ones. There are gravesites all over the city but most of the headstones have worn to such an exrent they are barely readable.

The apartment housing - primarily around the universities is also interesting = and not dissimilar to London and Paris in places.

First observation - many chew gum here - and most do so with their mouths open. Classy!

Another experience was sitting in seat 1b on United - the number that didnt listen to the instruction as to which aisle to go down for their seats was amazing. There were people going back and forth all over the place. They either dont fly very much or are not very observant.

Overall however, they are a friendly lot so far. Even the guy in Macca;s who I asked how much a dime is - I thought it was 10c but wasnt sure. It doesnt have a number on the coin ..........

Another nice touch here is that the displayed prices dont include taxes (on all ocassions) so you dont know how much you pay until checkout - and of course you cant have the right change tready.

Anyway, enough for now - some piccies included but fairly standard touristy shots im afraid - oh - and our plane for Lachie. Wow!

Boston /Kennedy connection
Great to hear from you . I thought you could still FEEL the presence of the Kennedy,s, in the more stately areas of course. The locals were amazed I knew about Paul Revere and the Boston Tea party ......from way over in Australia. The wharf area was interesting and I enjoyed the harbour cruise with the planes flying in beside the harbour. Some of the shops were so elegant and others a dime a dozen ! Have fun and enjoy the trip as our $$$$ is SO GOOD at the moment ! Hugs ROBYN

Day One!
Hi Chris and Ian, It's good to see that you arrived safely and are already into the scene. I remember well my trip to Los Angeles and San Francisco where nobody understood what John and I said, it can be very frustrating. You might need to buy a translator!!! Have a great day. Pete
