We're here at last! After a long flight and struggling with our bags on the tube we made it to our 'hotel' in Boston last night - the Ritz it ain't but the YWCA (like YMCA but for women) isn't too bad and certainly has a few more characters than you'd find in standard hotel lobbies! Funnily enough, the first thing we should see when coming out of the airport was sports pitches and people playing footie - can't get away from it! We (or rather I) had a bit of a blonde moment too, when it was discovered I had booked the hotel for the wrong dates!! We were worried we'd have to trawl the streets late at night searching for another place to stay but luckily the hotel could accommodate us. Today we have been wondering around the shops and getting our bearings, the weather is okay, a bit rainy but not cold. Still can't believe we're here with nothing to worry about for the next few months except where's our next destination and how we gonna get there! It feels pretty good I must say. Oh, getting through immigration was a bit tough though - lots of Q's about why we're here, what we gonna do, how much dosh we got etc. The upshot is (you'll be pleased to know) we are returning a month earlier because they only want us here for six months! So looks like we're gonna return in April instead of May - better make the most or our shorter time then! We also had our first fast food today (didn't take long!) - it wasn't McDonalds but it was Wendys, which is almost as bad. I'm still determined not to have a Mc-a-D's!! Lastly, I feel I'm going to update this list often:
Things Only Seen In America
1) a chapel in a shopping mall/skyscraper 2) a car in the shape of a shoe advertising local show shop 3) a jazz church service 4) Obama/McCain takeaway coffee cups in 7-11
The list will be added to! Bye for now, F x
