We have just had a very relaxing and refreshing week in Chicago with Ben and Rebecca Hauert. They.took us around and showed us a good time. Boy, is Chicago flat! There are no hills to be seen. If you do find a slight incline its man-made and usually a landfill. We went up the Sears Tower - the tallest building in the States (it used to be the tallest building in the world) and we could see for miles! While we were up there we realised we were in a potential terrorist target and imagined what it would have been like to see planes coming at ya… and then we read in the newspaper the next day that the FBI had arrested some people who were planning to take out the Sears Tower! Crazy

We found Chicago to be a pretty clean city with many parks and many patriotic Americans (possibly because we are coming close to the 4th of July). James decided that every time he saw an American flag he would say God Bless America - and as a result America should be abundantly blessed!

We also experienced an all-American barbeque, courtesy of Ben's family. We ate Chicago style hot dogs, played baseball in the sun, James learnt how to throw grid-iron, cooked smores on the fire and ate homemade cherry pie. Apparently James' trucker hat gave him the appearance of a tourist so they gave him a baseball cap with a very rounded visor to help him fit in. Some of Ben's family found our accent quite intriguing, especially when we tried to imitate American accents…They said that James was so good that he would fit right in down south.
