this is my first entry. right now i am getting ready to leave honolulu, hawaii. it has been my home for the past 7 1/2 years. it is a place i love and i know i will return. i am leaving to the philippines to start a yearlong trip through southeast asia. i want to start in manila and head south through it to indonesia, then head west and north through malaysia and enter the mainland through singapore. from there i would like to explore thailand, vietnam, laos, cambodia....... i have no set timeline or exact route, so we'll see what happens.
like i said before, i will miss hawaii. it has a very unique feel to it unlike any other place i have been. i have come up with a top ten list of things i will miss:
1. just to be sentimental, my friends
2. being able to wear shorts and slippers year round.
3. chicken katsu curry. (#1 reason why my belly jiggles)
4. when people say "nice moped" to me, they are serious.
5. when on the street and you make eye contact with a stranger, you exchange smiles, instead of
dirty looks.
6. duh... the beach!!!
7. hapa girls
8. $5/lb ahi poke
9. saying that it's getting chilly when it drops below 75 degrees.
10. a "long" commute to work is 20 minutes.
there are many, many other things that i will miss here. i can no way fit them on to one list. hawaii has become my home.
aloha,
erik
