Aloha! Greetings from Waikiki. Four days of tropical island lifestyle with the unexpected twist of very cold abrupt rainshowers! Showing our true british bones, we outstayed nearly everyone on the North shore beaches who must have been allergic to rain as they all dashed immediately back into their trucks!

Being budget conscious and again british, we walked almost everywhere and made the best of the $2 public bus fares instead of taking hostel shuttles or $100 taxis.

Stayed on the North Shore for two nights, where Alex made the most of the surf (and walked miles barefoot to hire a board). He surfed the beach at Pipeline, I stuck to the calmer waves of Waikiki in the south today.

We snorkelled with the fish in a flooded volcanic crater at Hanauma Bay, went to Pearl Harbour, and have met some great Aussies, with promises of sailing on Sydney Harbour and tours of Perth!

Hawai'i is great for a few days to check out the famous waves, but is not for the budget conscious, or those who want paradise (too much high rise here).

Off to Fiji in the morning, where tropical empty paradise awaits (hopefully!).

Mahalo for checking in.

Taking Off?
Is that Al trying to take off from his surf board on North Shore? It looks beautiful. The underwater picture of Anne is great. Glad you are away from US with severe weather conditions. Will mail today. Dad x
