London!! What a great city. Even though our visit was short and very cold I always have the feeling that I have never finished with this wonderful city. After we all settled into the Marriott, Marble Arch, { great location and very reasonable }, we were out into a very very cold night to visit the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, a lighting and entertainment funfair event that was great. Lots and lots of rides available so the kids {adult kids and young kids } participated on some great rides. A pie and chips for dinner and finally the frosty cold drove us back to the warmth of the hotel . It was even cold enough to stop Di from investigating the shopping in Regent and Oxford Streets.

Buckingham Palace, Regents Park, Horse Guards, Big Ben, Tower of London, Tower Bridge and a casual lunch in the Dickens Inn down at St Katharine Docks. Neat time. So after walking miles and enjoying riding the double decker buses and London Cabs. A long tiring day, but we got most of the things we wanted to show the young kids out of the way. The adult kids of course had fun reminscing

about their times spent in London as young adults as Amy, Chris and Jeremy spent some time there on their OE's while Hege was in London studying when Chris and her meet. We had dinner at Maxwells in Covent Garden (one of my favourite locations in London } were Pete and Helen drove up From Bath to spend the night with us. A great catch up.

Time, at last, as far as the adult girls were concerned, to spend some time in Oxford Street visiting their favourite stores. Then on a bus to take us up to Hampstead Heath, a look at the flat were Chris and Hege lived, and a walk to take us to a very nice restaurant/pub called the Freemasons Arms. Then a walk through the Heath to look at the views and just enjoy chatting and strolling through a beautiful part of London. Then back to the hotel so that Chris, Hege and the girls could get ready for their return home to Bergen. And so, an unbelievable Christmas and New Year spent as a family, came to and end with a lot of emotion and hugs, kisses and tears. Off they went with some

very sad young girls trying to be brave in their cab and in the hotel lobby. An absolutely magic time.

Now it was time to start heading back to warmer climates with a stop over in Honolulu to enjoy some surf, sea and pool. The Outrigger Hotel welcomed us, as did the warm night, and when morning arrived and we pulled back the curtains to see the beach and the surf on a sunny morning we couldn't wait to get wet. Jeremy has spent a lot of time on the paddle boards, the girls have enjoyed both the beach and the pool and we have been out in the outrigger canoe to surf back into shore. Also the catamaran out into the ocean off Diamond Head in the hope of seeing whales, but a no show on their part although we did see a very large turtle pass by. This is the third time I have been here and it always amazes me at how beautiful it is. There is some great shopping, if so inclined, and I can walk for miles along the shore and about the city. But most of the time I spent on the beach

or at the pool. It was nice just to relax and enjoy. Although it is very crowded and the wait at restaurants is sometimes extreme, it is a magic place and I hope that it is not my last visit. Perhaps to a couple of the other islands next time. Pip/Rod

Comment from the girls. "These London People are so Friendly". They waved to people from the top deck of the bus and it was amazing how many people waved back with a big smile.
