We spent October 1 celebrating my grandson's birthday and soon after we had settled in on the Mesa we heard wind of the Covered Bridge Festival in Montrose, an hour away. On October 2, after everyone’s nap, (big kids included), we all piled into the car for the beautiful drive into Montrose.

Every year this farm opens its doors to little (and big) kids to celebrate the fall. There are pyramids of hay to climb, horses, llamas and goats to pet, mazes to get lost in, hayrides that take you out into fields on a Halloween discovery hunt and of course pumpkins everywhere!

We ended our adventure roasting marshmallows over an open fire while we sipped cider. An absolutely fabulous way to spend a beautiful autumn day.

At the end of the day we drove into Ridgeway, closer to home, to dine at the Adobe Inn, authentically decorated and famous for their amazing Mexican food.
