We had a pleasant trip along Interstate 40 with stops in Lebanon, TN, Forrest City, AR, Checotah, OK (2 nights), and Amarillo,TX . It was sunny and hot, in the mid 90’s, so hot in fact that we didn’t even make use of the nice outdoor pool in Oklahoma.

We left Amarillo yesterday and had a beautiful ride on Routes 325, 87, and Interstate 25 up through Texas, New Mexico and into Colorado. Our first picture is where we stopped for lunch on the NM-Colorado border. The landscape was dramatic as we climbed into the high desert with mountains in the distance. We arrived at Mountain View RV Resort in Canon City, CO yesterday, to be greeted by a cold front and clouds. I waited for a colorful sunset picture and then for a sunrise picture, but the sun did not cooperate. We took pictures anyway.

Today we went to Royal Gorge Bridge, one of the highest suspension bridges in the world. In June, a fire destroyed part of the bridge, so it is now closed for repair. It was probably a blessing in disguise for me as I would have been scared witless to walk over it. Tomorrow we leave for Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

Nice Photos!
Even with the hot temperatures and fire damaged landscape, we're jealous that we're not out there too. It still looks very pretty. Glad you're off to a good start.

Good Old Colorado!
Hi you two...Looked up Canon City and the Royal George on the net and wish we had gotten off of 25 coming back up from NM heading for Colorado Sp. Canon looks about 50 miles from 25. Hate we missed it. Looks really exciting but don't think I would have liked driving on the bridge. We were pretty daring...maybe we would have. Love the camp ground and the back ground scenery. Just can't get enough of looking at the mountains and canyons and all the in between. :)) Got an email earlier from Breaking Christian News reporting serious flooding in Co. so hope you did not decide to head on up higher in the state. Trust you are okay. You may already be gone and wonder how wide spread the rain is. Be safe..take good deep breaths..and keep the travel blogs coming ...with pictures of course. :)) E & P
