In the morning we walked over to the Durango train station again as today was the beginning of "Rail Fest." We stopped into the museum to look around for awhile and then we headed off to our next destination - Alamosa. It's about a 3 hour drive to Alamosa and along the way you see beautiful mountain views, pass through the town of Pagosa Springs, cross the Continental Divide again, and then catch up with another active rail line called the Rio Grande. We stopped at the train station in Alamosa to check out the diesel engine coming into the station and then later saw the steam engine settling in from the days run. Drew and Sean placed the ceremonial coins on the track to get the ceremonial flat coins after the engine passes - success as usual. Not only did we top the day off with a swim in the hotel pool, but we also visited the UFO Watch Tower in Hopper, CO (just north). Yes, you did read that correctly - always have to keep an open mind when looking at sights on a map.
