Thanks to my friend John, who is performing in the Bracebridge Dinner at Yosemite (http://www.bracebridgedinners.com/main.html) I spent Christmas and a few days before and after at Yosemite National Park. Winter is a great time to be there; in fact, a woman at the front desk at the Ahwahnee Hotel told me that they get 3 million of their annual 4 million visitors in the summer, so the rest of the year is a better bet if you're looking for something other than a mass of humanity. Here are a few photos:

During a ranger-led snowshoe hike, taken illicitly. John wasn't supposed to leave the Valley, nor partake in an risky activity because of having to perform most every evening.

John was a singer in this annual dinner, which dates back to the late 1920s and counted Ansel Adams among its cast (he also directed and music directed it for several years). Friends and family of the cast are invited to be "Forest Folk," with a couple of group walk-on parts. Like the tights?

merry christmas
What a beautiful, peaceful setting for Christmas. So much more what it should be that wacka wacka at the malls. Nice photos, Dan!
