The rapids.
The popup is in the middle right of the picture. The surf/edge is to the left. Sunday morning we decided to go swimming in the river. The locals had tipped us of on how we could get down there.
We headed down, and first entered the river. Obviously the wrong spot, as all the locals were a hundred meters farther up.
We finally located the trail that took us up there, and the place was neat. I actually remembered to get some sun tan lotion on, so I didn't even get burnt.
Anyways, the first picture shows part of the stream. You can go into the stream to the right, and float out to the left of the picture. There is a gradient over the "edge", but its not too bad if you go over it. The locals also used a popup to cross the river. A popup is where the water encounters an underwater obstacle, and the water gets spewed almost vertically up along the wall. After observing them I tried as well. You go in to the water just right of the guy laying on the far side of the river. Then you go deep, and suddenly you pop up on this side. Very funny. I repeated the trick several times, it
The surf/edge
The surf/edge is to the right in this picture. You could make it out of the main current by swimming to the lower part of the picture. was a great ride.
The last photos show the rapids where you could go through at full speed. Martin was foolish enough to try, and he actually made it. Svein filmed the entire thing, I'll see if I can publish a clip.
As the clock approached 15, suddenly a copper showed up. It was a chippie(CHP Officer). It seems the river was private property, so he chased everyone out of the area. We were about to leave anyways, so it didn't bother us to much. I guess the guys that own the river must be very unpopular, behaving like that towards the local populace.
