Today was a good day. I got to sleep in until 9 am. . .I usually get up at 5:30 am. Then I stayed in bed for a while, watching some mystery shows (Bones) with my cats. I don't know how they do it, but they always figure out who the bad guy is before I do! 😊
Oh well. . .I woke up still a bit sore from yesterday's walk. My muscles seem to be recovering quickly, but I had a huge blood blister on my right foot. I know. . .the picture is pretty gross. . .and yes. . .it hurts like hell. I essentially have a huge hole in my foot now. But hopefully it should be mostly healed up by next Saturday when I have a 20 mile walk. I'll be in Oregon visiting my brother, Tom. I told him he'll have to walk part of that 20 miles with me. I think he thinks I'm kidding. 😊 Tom lives near Crater Lake. It's gorgeous. . .beyond beautiful. Usually it's too snowy to drive up to the lake at this time of year, but because the snow fall was less than normal some of the roads
Wounded Foot
Yes. . .I agree. . .the sock tan line is super sexy. :) are already open. We're going to drive up there and I'll take lots of pictures to share.
Later on today I met up with my parents at an English pub called Shakespeares for lunch. It's owned by a family from England and has really authentic British food. When the weather is nice (which it wasn't today. . .it was a bit cloudy and cool) we sit out on the deck in the sunshine and relax. I've told some of you that my dad is a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy, so it shouldn't surprise you that he had roast beef and potatoes for lunch. I tried out a curry. Indian food is very popular in England, but it also isn't very authentic. It's like Chinese food in America. . .it's our version of Chinese food and not 'real' Chinese food. But despite the fact that the curry was not authentic, it was very tasty. Oh my god. . .this just reminded me of when I was in Peru. My friend, Austin, and I found an "English Pub" there and went it to try it out. I know. . .how good can a British pub in South America be? Well. .
.I remember that the food was awful (the meat in our sandwiches was some kind of 'mystery meat', smothered in some bizarre sauce), but they did have some really good beer.
Mmmmmm. . .beer. . .okay. . .enough of that. . .back to my day. I met up with my friends, Nicole and Josiah, at a Japanese Fusion restaurant for dinner. Nicole and I usually hike every weekend with her dog, Merlin. Merlin even has his own backpack for hiking. He's a really good hiker unless it gets really hot. Last summer we almost had to carry him a couple miles back to the car. He's a big dog, weighing about 100 pounds. Nicole and I were both really worried and I was trying to figure out how to make a sling so we could carry him between us. But he made it back to the car on his own. We just had to keep stopping and resting in the shade. Now we only hike in the cooler parts of the day and bring lots of extra water.
Okay. . .it's getting late and I need my beauty sleep. Bye for now!
