Springtime in Mt Shasta

It’s springtime in Mt Shasta-finally. After more than a week of sloppy skies, my cats have abandoned the wood stove for mouse patrol. The dreary skies failed to keep the summer wanderers in the valley. I saw my first purple hippy bus yesterday.

Summers in Mt Shasta always pull in a variety of strangers from jet setting guests at Hearst Castle on the McCloud River to old hippies with their flying hair and rickity buses. Most of the tourists fit somewhere in between- just working people happy to spend a few days in a small town at the base of a very large mountain.
