Early start, check out of Hotel took longer tha expected coz they tried to overcharge me, probably didn't help that the lady on the front desk had nails longer than eagle talons and obviously struggled with the keyboard! Anyway, got it sorted and off we headed.

Back down toward Santa Monica, right turn onto highway 1, drove through Malibu and lusted after the amazing beachfront real estate, all straight from the set of 90210, the highway narrowed and we drove through some amazing scenery, stopped for a while to watch the surfers, think I missed my vocation in life....

Wasn't sure really of our destination but Alex happened upon a suggestion in the guide book, a pretty little harbour town called Morro Bay, we arrived on the last day of the Harbour Fair and the town was buzzing, also the prices at the hotels were buzzing! Dropped into a few asked for prices and to look at a room, some were too pricey and the others....well, I wouldn't wish them on some of my worst clients from the summer (well maybe some)!

Anyway, found a quaint hotel called the Ascot Suites, now the decor is something out of the 80's now you may think it was a bit shabby if it hasn't been decorated. since the 80s but no! It actually looks like they recently decorated it like that, maybe chintz is the new minimalist?! Whatever, it was clean, spacious and comfortable. Free breakfast although the breakfast room was so small we became intimate with a selection of retirees touring the US. I became popular as the breakfast lady only spoke Spanish, so I provided free translation services for the oldies desperate for the extra mantequilla for their bagels!

Dinner overlooking the bay and the famous Rock, Pasta and salad and a glass of Italian red....

No escalators today...
