Dear all,
Its been ages since I last wrote and I am now on the other side of the world..this is what has been going on......
After our six nights in LA we got to LAX airport only to find out that our flight was delayed by two hours. I am starting to feel as though I have seen enough airports and spent enough money on coffee in airports! Also I have been through enough airport security lines to last me a lifetime!
Dan and I really enjoyed our time in LA and we would love to come back. We did the really sad tourist thing of going celeb spotting. We went and saw the houses of Leonardo Decaprio, Halle Berry and Wynona Ryder...or should I say that we saw their huge gates which stop sad tourists and paparazzi watching their every move! It was very easy, we jumped in the car and followed the directions that were in our Lonely Planet guide to LA.
We also went to Rodeo drive and I would be telling fibs if I said that we went shopping there! We looked in the windows of shops such as Mont Blanc, Gucci, Chanel and
soon realised that we would have to spend a whole months travelling budget if we wanted to buy anything. But it was a very interesting place to be and there were some very expensive cars parked in the area. Sadly we did not manage to spot any celebs!
However I will now confess to seeing a celeb on the way home. We were sat in traffic and a woman walked past that I recognised. I was so excited, finally I had spotted a celebrity!!!
The sad thing is that it was Sky from neighbours...and so I shall move on quickly!
On our last day in LA we went to DisneyLand...somewhere that I have always wanted to visit. We both had a great day and the Small World ride was my favourite. The whole visit felt a little bit sad for me as I know that Mum always wanted to go as she loved Disney so much. She would have totally loved it and I am sure that she would have liked the Small World ride best too!
We got on our flight to London and twelve hours later we touched down on British soil for the first
time in twelve months. We had five hours before our next flight and so Katy and Jenny met me with their hubbies and we all had lunch. It was lovely to see them but I was tired and had the prospect of a further twelve hour plane journey and a change in Singapore and then the night train and boat ahead of me! It was all a bit overwhelming and part of me just wanted to go home with them, curl up in bed and not go on any more journeys for a while!
We said goodbye and said 'see you in eight weeks'..which is much better than 'see you in a year'! The journey went fine and we eventually arrived here on Koh Tao in Thailand. We are back at Asia Divers and some of our friends from last year are still here. Dan is working and I have some diving work on the horizon. I am also studying very hard...but will tell you all about that another time!
Love to you all from Thailand,
Wendy
