Fri. Dec. 9 Wrapped Christmas presents then boxed them up to send to the family. Drove into Borrego Springs and got the packages shipped. Stopped at Las Jilbertos Mexican restaurant for a late lunch....good food and cheap. On the way back to camp we stopped and let Gordon have a romp in the desert.
Sat. Dec. 10 Decided to drive into Salton Ciry to Geocache. Before we started hunting for the caches we drove to Red Earth Casino for lunch and to gas up. Found 8 caches, all named for Navy ranks, with lots more to find on our next visit. The last cache we found, The Admiral, was off the paved roads nad it took three tries to find the right route to it. Gordon enjoyed the day since he got to run free when we were hunting some of the caches. Got back to camp after dark....it sure does get dark in the desert.
Sun. Dec. 11 Started packing stuff up since we leave for San Elijo tomorrow. Before the Broncos game we drove into town for ice cream cones. Got back just in time for kick off. Another game that Denver almost lost
but they tied the game with
seconds left then were lucky and won in OT. After the game we had our usual Sunday taco dinner.
Mon, Dec. 12 Left Anza-Borrego at 10 am with light rain falling and hit rain most of the way to the coast. Stopped in Encinitas at Red Robin for lunch. Pulled into San Elijo State Beach campground at 2:30 and were lucky the rain had stopped so I
could unhook the VW and stay dry. After we got settled into our site it started raining again....good timing ! Had pizza and salad for dinner.
Tues. Dec. 13 If it's Tuesday, it must be movie day....$2 for a small popcorn. Used our Disney points to buy tickets and upgraded the popcorn to a large which gets you a free refill. We saw the new Muppets Movie which was just like the old Muppets show. One of those movies where the adults and kids are laughing at different times.
Wed. Dec. 14 Took Gordon to the beach and let him play in the water but he had to stay on the leash. Drove to the PO to pick up some mail
them over to Del Taco for lunch. After lunch we took bottles and cans to the recycle center for a whopping $5.20. Picked up groceries at Walgreens and Sprouts....wish we had a Sprouts near Cortez. For dinner Wendy fixed stir-fry with stuff she got at Sprouts, including a free bottle of Ponzu sauce.
Thur. Dec. 15 Took Gordon to the off leash beach in Del Mar so he could run free and chase the ball into the surf. Crazy dog likes nothing better than chasing his tennis ball. We were going to have lunch at Burger King buut the one our Garmin took us to was no longer there. Since there was a Ralphs there we went in for some supplies and Wendy bought a burgundy Del Mar T-shirt like the pink Encinitas one she bought last year. Dinner was grilled chicken, corn on the cob and salad. Corn wasn't too great, not like August Olathe Sweet corn.
Fri. Dec. 16 Drove to Rubio's for lunch to use our free taco coupons .Albertson's had a good price for Coke and shrimp so we headed to the closest one according to the Garmin. Unfortunately, it was now
a Kohl's ("always trust your Garmin"), so off to the next one. Ont the way back to camp we stopped at Burger King for free
French fries since it was "Free Fryday" there. For dinner we had the fries and beans and franks. We also searched for 2 Geocaches and found one but the other one had a carabiner hanging in the tree with nothing attached to it. I guess it was taken.
Sat. Dec. 17 Went out Geocaching and found 6 but didn't find 3. In the campground, Gordon met Newman, a 2-year-old yellow lab and they had a good time playing. I grilled some big shrimp on the Weber Q and Wendy fixed rice and broccoli.
Sun. Dec. 18 Stayed home and watched the Broncos get whipped by New England 41-23. We should have gone somewhere and something fun. Looks like the Broncos are back to playing the way they did at the beginning of the season.
Mon Dec. 19 Didn't do much today but did go to Baskins Robbins for ice cream and Albertson for more shrimp and Coke. The freezer is now completely full with lots of shrimp. We fixed
grilled shrimp, broccoli and roasted potatoes for
dinner.
Tues. Dec. 20 Today we went to Sea World. Last year when we were here they gave you a ticket good until the end of this year, expiring on December 31. We figured we might as well make use of it and go see the new Holiday shows. We drove down the coast route to San Diego and stopped at the Welcome to Point Loma sign for a Geacache. We were able to swap four trackables before hitting New York Giant Pizza for lunch. After lunch we drove to Mission Bay Park to park for free saving $12 that Sea World charges to park. I unloaded the bikes and rode them to Sea World. Along the way we stopped and got another Geacache and swapped a trackable. At Sea World, the first thing we did was ride the Journey to Atlantis, a flume / roller coaster ride where you get WET. After that we rode the Wild Artic ride. We were able to see two of the Christmas shows, Clyde and Seamore's Night Before Christmas and Shamu's Christmas Show. The park closed after the Shamu Show so we headed back
to the VW. It was dark and once we
left the parking lot we had to stop riding and the walk the bikes because Wendy could no longer see. It wasn't too far before the lighting got good enought that Wendy could see again and we made it to the VW without anyone getting lost or crashing. Gordon was waiting on the dash when we got home.
Wed. Dec. 21 Went to CVS for Coke and wine (at least we own Coca-Cola stock) then stopped at an off leash dog park and Gordon had a good time chasing tennis balls. After we unloaded the Coke and wine, we were going to take a walk around the campground but Gordon had one of his seizures before we even made it to the back of the motorhome. When he comes out of the seizure it is like he never had it. We did a short walk then had dinner and watched TV for the evening. Life is Good.
