What a treat to have them make a showing on our first morning here!
Well our first night of boondocking went quite well. I can't say it's roughing it when we still have TV and the stove and such, but well, it's still called boondocking.... We woke up this morning to hot air balloons on the horizon as the sun was coming up. Pretty cool. They danced along the top of the hills for about an hour or so before drifting out of our sight. After a hearty breakfast, I packed up a lunch and some water and headed out for a hike. We couldn't find the one we actually wanted to go on, so we took a chance on a different one - well actually 3. We combined Teacup, Sugarloaf, and Soldiers Pass to make it a 6 mile trip. Al wore her packs again and did very well. I think she takes her job very seriously once she has them on. We still don't have much in them. Jerky, Cheetoes, poop bags... hers of course. Anyway, it was incredible! We stopped at Brin's Mesa to have lunch and then headed back. Allie wasn't happy about having to put the packs back on, but she took them on and did fine on the way

All around us in this canyon were these tall mountainous red rock structures. An beautiful view in every direction!
back. I think she was just as tired as we were. That is the farthest we have gone to date and it's been a while since we've done anything serious. It was definitely worth it though. The scenery was fabulous the hike was challenging but certainly not difficult. Toward the end on our way back, we saw rock climbers going up one of the rock structures. Woof. Not for me, thankyouverymuch. If you click on the pictures that I post here, they should enlarge. I put some arrows and circles to show where they are. We could even hear them yelling to each other, which was daunting to say the least. It made me dizzy just looking at the pictures! We are back at the Cameo now relaxing and getting ready to fix some dinner. We're going to have a campfire tonight - No marshmallows though. I'm bummed. But we're not going out just for marshmallows.... Allie is so warn out that she won't even get out of the truck. It's overcast and a bit breezy, and with the doors open she is quite content to stay there. (just as I am content to sit in my nice comfy chair

The contrast is pretty striking, don't you think?

Down in the canyon there were a lot of trees that gave us quite a different view of the rocks - not to mention some nice shade.

We stopped for lunch on this mesa. A well deserved - and appreciated - break.

I gotta admit, this is pretty cool to see what you are up to, and how you both are getting in such good shape as well. keep it up. Also glad to hear the cat is in action too.
