I wake up around 5 am, I’m still on east coast time. Kirsten is still asleep all curled up in her blanket on her soft mattress. Great night sleep, soft mattress.
I turn on my stealth mode and slip into the shower, after dressing I slip out and head down stairs to have some breakfast. Kirsten is still fast asleep.
Kirsten joins me after an hour or so. She is smiling and says… I love the bed it’s so soft and cushy. Yeah, I know I felt like I was sleeping a marshmallow. No, it was a cloud and I floated all night.
Drew comes in to the hotel lobby/dining area, gets a cup of coffee and sits down. Kirsten pulls out her list of items she wants to explore. After reviewing the list with Drew, we map out our day and were off for a day of adventure exploring Phoenix.
Our first stop is the famous French Farmers Market located in the Biltmore area on Camelback.
Kirsten, out of the car before Drew can put into Park. Drew looks at me and says what the! I tell him this is normal we’ll catch up with
her in a few minutes. Drew and I stroll into the market and see Kirsten exploring all the vendor tables.
The aroma is intoxicating with all the vendors cooking food, preparing beverages and selling their wares. We spend an hour or so walking through the market. Beautiful table cloths, jewelry and just about anything you could want.
After leaving the market Drew takes us to his office just around the corner. It’s a beautiful building his desk looks out toward Camel Back Mountain. Kirsten and I tell him we never had a view like that at Darden.
Drew’s office is the nerds dream, high tech equipment covering every square foot, 6-7 video arcade games in the foyer area, a breakroom overflowing with food, coffee, soda and beer.
Yeah, no wonder Drew loves working in the game industry.
Next Drew takes us to see his new found comic book store. Yep, every nerd has one. It was just like the one on Big Bang Theory. I was expecting to see Leonard and Sheldon standing over the comic book area.
We pull out of the parking lot and head toward Camel Back mountain. We drive
around the mountain checking out the area.
Lots of folks riding bicycles and hiking the mountain.
Drew says he wants to take us to lunch at OHSO. Of course, we say YAH!
OHSO is a restaurant brewery that hikers, bicyclist and joggers frequent. It backs up to one of the many canals cutting through Phoenix that everyone rides, jogs or hikes on.
We ordered and enjoyed Bloody Marys’ and some very delicious food, thanks Drew for picking up the tab.
After lunch, we go to Whole Foods so I can by Kirsten’s Easter basket stuff. Every year Kirsten gives up wine and sweets for Lent. So, every year I buy Kirsten some really good wine and some chocolate.
I picked out a 2012 Barolo, some chocolate, cheese bread, assorted olives and salami. You know Easter dinner …..vacation style.
We stopped at the Biltmore shopping area!! Basically….. Millennia Mall, complete with an Apple Store for me. Kirsten found the Jonathon Adler store, Stacy’s favorite designer!!
Next, we wanted to see the Scottsdale Art district. Wow, it was Winter Park, Park avenue on steroids. After
walking for two hours and taking a trolley we stopped and had a refreshing beer.
After the art district, we read there was an antique car show. I love seeing restored old cars and I guessed if the art district was good then to cars would also be good. I was not disappointed. Lots of old cars with lots of old men rubbing on them. LOL
For dinner, we drove to Tempe and found the Peddle Haus. It was a very nice brewery and it was supper time. This time it was dad’s treat. What good meal, everyone was full and tired.
Drew drove us back to our hotel and we said our goodbyes and we were ready for bed.
Great day!! Drew rally has learned his way around Phoenix.
