GC NR - Day 3

This mornings bike ride was shorter and sought out level roadways. This was also laundry and shower morning. We found the showers unique in that the shower heads were high pressure nozzles with no adjustment. The first shot felt like the top layer of skin was being peeled off, but as the screams fell on deaf ears, I realized the timer was running

With clean bodies, we drove to Cape Royal. All of the roads in the park were under repair and this road was closed for the last day or so. The 20+ mile drive on a narrow roadway with several view points was a throwback drive with trees hanging over a roadway with no shoulders.

Cape Royal did not disappoint. It was less hazy today and the big muddy was a ribbon of brown in the canyon below. Angels Window provided a great view, but the climb out to Angels Window Point proved to be spectacular. Emily had another couple take our photo and yes that is Emily with the hat and sunglasses. We continued our hike to Cape Royal (the best view spot in the in the park). It is also the primo sunset location and many late evening I spent photographing the days end. I climbed over the fence to my favorite spot and with a few clouds on the horizon was able to get a west view panorama.

The evening was a trip to the lodge for dinner, but first a gift shop excursion was the needed. Some people never miss or pass an antique store, but for Emily it is National Park gift shops and highway produce stands. After being seated for dinner, I excused myself to rush back to camp and start the generator. Yes the battery was giving us trouble again. I was unimpressed with the meal, but the table was at the window and provided an electric view at sunset.

Back to camp and preparation for leaving in the AM.
