Where we hiked
This is a picture of the place where we hiked today (and last week) from Goldfield Ghost Town. You can click the pic to enlarge What a day! We headed up to Lost Dutchman and hiked up to the top - and beyond. I've indicated where we went in a couple of pictures here. Allie did great with the packs - still very light, not much in them. We had some serious steep rocks to get up and over, and although she tried to find another way, she ended up coming up the same route as us. Once she got up, her whole attitude changed. It was like a self confidence boost that was so visable! We were so proud of her! And of us. We really did some climbing today. I'm pretty sure that I have created a monster - letting Bob take the lead on these hikes. Pretty scary. He's doing great though. Hardly sore at all. And our reward is a couple hours by and in the pool. Or ice cream at DQ. Or both. Not good, I know, but hey, we earned it, right? (I am still losing weight despite the trips to DQ!)
THEN, a couple of days ago one of the other park residents told us about this place called the Organ Stop about 20 minutes from here and it

It is really difficult to describe this place, really. I put a couple of pictures here, but it just can't even begin to translate the magnitude of this place. The organ, a 1927 Wurlitzer organ with 4 1/2 levels of keyboards and a boat-load of buttons and gadgets that afforded the operator the ability to run everything from there. There were drums all over, xylophones, a grand piano, an upright, an accordian, puppets, and a duck, among many other things. This of course is in addition to over 6000 organ pipes that include some 32' wooden diaphones. In the picture, you can see several different "windows" through which you can see all the different pipes. That is just a portion of it. They were all over the place in the restaurant. The gentleman playing was terrific - he played "Somewhere my Love", "under the Sea" (from little mermaid), "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", a medley from Phantam of the Opera, among many others. I just cannot seem to wrap my mind around how it all works. All the different pieces that he

You can see some of them in the pic, only about half. It was really impressive and another thing that I would highly recommend.
A whole new world has opened up for Bob and I. A world we never knew existed and it has made us want more. So much more! Our trip this year was rather abbreviated because of taking so long to sell the house, but next year we are hoping to cover a little more ground. This has been a whirlwind start to our year and our new lives and we are excited about the future. We want to thank you all for coming along on this journey with us. It is so fun to be able to share our stories with you and read all the comments and notes that you send. Thank you ALL!
