Morning High Tide at Hope
Some campers woke up to standing water around their vehicle. Monday August 13, 2007 We got up to another sunny morning. We noticed that the River had risen quite a bit during the night. We were still on dry land, but two other campers weren’t as fortunate. They were now parked in several inches of water!
We took off for Seward, another big fishing mecca on Resurrection Bay that goes out into the Gulf of Alaska. It is the port town for Kenai Fjords National Park. On our way we stopped at Exit Glacier. We have seen a lot of glaciers in Alaska and this one is not very impressive, but it is easy to get to. After a hike to the viewing platform, we ate lunch and moved on.
We chose a campsite operated by the city overlooking Resurrection Bay. This one has water and electricity and the sites are pretty large. There are lots and lots of RV’s in Seward! Talk about a small world; the people behind us are from Louisa, Virginia! It’s their third time to Alaska.
We decided to take a boat tour of the National Park and scheduled a tour for Wednesday.
