Although this is certainly not Two Years Before the Mast, I’ll be quite ready to get off this boat tomorrow. The ferry ride has certainly been very comfortable, too comfortable even. This thing has internet, which I’ll admit is fairly awesome. It is not the fastest connection, but it is better than any connection I’ve experienced on much larger, luxuriously appointed cruise ships. We've had a nice dry spot to sleep, open air, under heat lamps. The weather has been great with the exception of a rainy night in Ketchikan. Instead of getting off in Prince Rupert we decided to switch boats in Ketchikan as to avoid any more time in Canada all together. It took some whining, and 15 minutes of driving rain to convince Stevens that sleeping in a tent would be a good idea that night since Ketchikan is indeed a in the middle of a giant rain forest. Everything is rather predictable and mundane. The characters onboard are varied and Alaskan enough. We've followed a group of nice people down from Haines, but I would rather be on my bike at this point than see it shackled to a steel hull.
The Cascades are calling.
Setting up Camp
We didn't sleep in the tent on deck, Stevens is just making sure his baby is dry after the rains in Tongass(Ketchikan).
