Day 12: Glacier Bay, Alaska – Too cold to stay outside!

Today, we are cruising along Glacier Bay, a vast area of southeast Alaska’s Inside Passage. It is a protected national park known for its wildlife and glaciers. It is here where you can witness a glacier calving, where chunks of ice break of the glacier and go into the water.

We stared at the Glacier for about half an hour, waiting for it to calve. After a while, Renata and I decided it was time to go inside. It was cold outside and it was getting slightly boring just staring at an enormous block of ice.

Instead we went to a towel folding and floral design demonstration on the ship. We also played more scrabble as we watched Glacier Bay from the warmth inside the cruise ship. Sadly, we did not get to see any wildlife or Glacier’s calving that day.

Tomorrow, we will reach Ketchikan, the salmon capital of the world!
