After a last flurry of packing, many hugs, and a few tears I have finally begun my journey. I am starting my year exploring the Galapagos for 10 days and then traveling down through the rest of Ecuador and into Peru to begin work in my volunteer program. Two long flights are behind me and there is still one more to go before I finally reach South America and will have to scramble together my limited Spanish in order to find my way around Quito. Wish me luck!

Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Delana has temporarily relocated to the opposite side of the country and is currently a rising junior studying Neuroscience and pre-medicine at Wheaton College in Norton, MA. Delana first fed her passions for travel and helping people during a gap year spent venturing through South America and Africa, volunteering along the way.
