We could not get breakfast as we had to leave around 8 am from the hotel to the train station. The day started off cloudy and cold. Hotel shuttle bus took us to the train terminal. One can easily notice the temperature and wind impact in Denali compared to Anchorage. That 300 miles north brings the temperature down about 15 degrees. We had seats in the first row of the train car. All the arrangements were very similar to the train we took up to Denali. Dylan and Kiki were the conductor and bartender for this car. Dylan’s commentary was really good. We debated about having breakfast in the train, but decided to go for lunch instead. We had variety of snacks at hand and that came in handy as breakfast. Soon clouds started to give way to a sunny sky. Dylan explained that there are 2 spots in this train travel that can provide good view of Mount Denali peak, if the peak was not covered by clouds. We were so lucky!! We caught views of the peak from both spots. The clouds had lifted from the peak and we were able to see the white contours of the biggest mountain in North America. We had an early lunch, the same veggie sandwich as the one we had going up to Denali. The train got delayed by at least 45 minutes as they had to pick some homestead folks that live near the tracks. Interesting fact is that these homestead household can flag down the train if they have to visit Anchorage. We reached the train depot around 5:45 PM. We got an Uber back to Fairfield Inn. By now, the day had become very sunny and bright. We checked into the hotel and got our suitcases from the storage. We wanted to repack (2 suitcases for kids and 2 for us) so each room in the ship has the right suitcases. Around 7 am, we walked about 0.8 miles to a pho place "pho jula & Thai Cuisine". It was awesome weather to walk and sitting in the train for 8 hours, this is a welcome change. The food (nice vegetarian pho) in huge bowls was delicious. Highly recommend the place. We walked back to hotel and repacked. All of us went to sleep by 11pm.
