Today I brought my camera to breakfast to look at the pictures taken yesterday. I realized its not working right - I have to squeeze it for it to turn on and I can only take one picture. It won't let me take another! O no! I don't know what happened to it at all. Thankfully, Karolina has a camera so there will be pictures for the remainder of the trip - I know you were worried blog readers. This is so sad though. I love this camera, it was a gift from Michael this Christmas, and I'll definitely need it in Egypt starting April 1st.
Well, after breakfast we headed to the pool. I even went in the pool because at 9:00 there was absolutely no one in the pool. I did a few laps and rested on the side of the pool watching the ocean and the waves roll in. The resort was playing the most relaxing music. I felt like I was floating even when I was standing - that's how relaxed I was.
At 11:00 they made an announcement that they were organizing beach volleyball. Yes! - that's my style vacation. My only problem was
that I fractured my wrist a few weeks ago - thankfully just my left. I was feeling great though so I decided it would be okay if I just didn't set (since that's the only thing I would need my left wrist for). I had my brace anyways. Volleyball turned out to be such a great time. My team was mostly all Canadians that weren't traveling together. I was thankful everyone's primary language was English. It made calling for the ball so much easier.
After volleyball I went and washed all the sand off of me. I sat out on my balcony for awhile watching the pool (which included Karolina swimming) and reading my book. Tonight we planned sunset sailing.
I had thought that the tour left from the same docks as the other two tours, but I realized after all of us paid our 15 peso port fee and I talked to the information desk that it was on the other side of the port bay. We would need to take a cab around to get there on time.
We did and arrived just as they were giving instructions. Perfect! We boarded our sailboat after putting
our shoes in a giant trash bag (I like those sandals, I hope I see them again). Immediately I was asked what I would like to drink and predictably I ordered red wine. It was actually really good.
We used the motor of the sailboat to get out of the harbor and we all prayed there would be enough wind to set sail... Perfect! Wind :-) The crew let down the sails and we glided along the coastline of Puerto Vallarta. As the sun neared the horizon the crew brought out deli plates. I wasn't expecting it, so it was a nice touch.
As I was eating I turned around and all the sudden Karolina was behind the wheel steering the boat. She was laughing away and having the time of her life! I braced myself :-P
One of the crew members, Carlos, offered me a shot of tequila and the passengers around me egged me on. I took the shot and was very surprised by the lack of kick in the tequila. It was incredibly smooth.
The sun finally fell into darkness.
The captain of our boat received a call from another boat that
there were whales only a short distance from us. The captain instructed Karolina to turn the engine on and showed her how to push the throttle. We found a baby whale and it's Mom! The Momma whale was nudging the baby whale up to the surface. It was so cool to see. We stayed for about 10-15 minutes watching the baby learn how to breath and then headed back to the port and then to the resort for dinner.
El Salvador's restaurant had Red Snapper fish on the menu! Yay! No way I was passing that up, I'd been looking forward to it for a year. It did not disappoint. By the time dinner concluded, the excitement, dinner and tequila/wine had made me exhausted. I passed out as soon as my head hit the pillow.
