After 2 winters spent on Vancouver Island, we opted for a more benign climate and boy, did we find it! Ajijic is 5 000’ above sea level, moderating the heat of central Mexico. Winter is dry season, so sunny every day with temps in the mid 20s and cooler nights. Our friends Brian & Vivienne were a great help. They have wintered here for the past 7 years & know the ropes. We have been completely spoiled, having a gardener, cleaner (Alejandro) and pool guy (Javier) to take care of us. We practise our very rudimentary Spanish on them.

We are far enough out of town that we often see working farmers on horseback & at night hear a variety of animals, from roosters to donkeys.

An unexpected bonus has been an endless supply of oranges, lemons limes and avocados….just pick them when you need them!

With new friends Trish & Ralph at Our club…we are paid up members. The court is on property owned by a school which benefits from our rentals. The fact that is covered & generally has a nice breeze is a huge benefit.

We can understand why so many gringos are drawn here. Surprising how many live full time…not something we plan to do as long as we can manage our Sauble home. Most people we have spoken with think the rainy season, June - August is the best…everything is lush & not so dusty!
