Facts about Belize. There are only 4 highways in the country, totaling 508.5 kilometers of pavement. Other roads are sand/gravel, washboard and tend to wash out. 36.8% of the population are under 15 years old and the average age is 21. We rented a cart for the day so we could explore the island. There were many signs like this one advertising property for sale, in fact there was property for sale everywhere in Belize.

There were vehicles here, but still, most people including locals got around with these golf carts.

Everywhere we went in Belize, we had internet, though Skype did not work at all.

From the end of the pier, our hotel is just visible through the palms.

We chartered a plane to fly over the Blue Hole of Belize. One of the to do things on Linda's bucket list.

Just after we took off, we had a good look at a part of San Pedro from the air.

Running all the way along the Coast of Belize, the reef here is less than a kilometer from the Caye, we can see and hear the waves crashing from the island.

We approached the hole at 5000 feet elevation, and circled slowly downwards as we rotated around the 124 meter deep phenomena.

Popular scuba diving site, but not for us. Many people snorkel, but we were told you lost the effect when you were on the water. Many species of fish and a variety of sharks frequent this spot.

We can spot our hotel on the left, last pier, the flight gave us a great perspective of Ambergis Caye.

They even open it for you, it costs between 3 and 4 dollars Belize each and is a pretty good beer. Everyone stops in for a beer and keeps going with it in hand.

Trees, sunshine, gentle sound of the reef in the distance, warm breezes, Belize is beautiful.

We had eaten there the night before, it was closed this evening, and it obviously doubles as a garage.

Coffee in hand, we are off. After all the delicious food, we thought a walk back to the water terminal would do us good.

Even at 6:45 AM, there were lots of people around. The weather was warm and we were glad when we got to the terminal before the line up.
