Our bags are packed and ready to go. Check out is at noon and the bus is booked for 2.30pm. We go down for breakfast - a large one today as the bus journey will be a minimum of four hours.
Back in our room, I check our itinerary file for the bus tickets. Glancing at the spreadsheet - something is not quite right. It is the 20th today...isn’t it, I ask Ian. No, the 19th he replies! Well we are not moving on then!
Doh! I go downstairs to speak to the owner - yes, we have booked and paid until tomorrow. OK, so we are not leaving today after all...surely he must have known that when he asked me if we were leaving today?
So, on the plus side, Ian has not lugged our bags down two flights of extremely steep stairs! On the downside, it’s far too late to go to the waterfall - the only thing we have not seen in Creel!
So it looks like it’s going to be another ‘chill’ day then? We take advantage of the 3 hour turnaround laundry and deliver another half bag of washing and have a
wander around town. Unfortunately, our ‘friend’ from yesterday spots us within seconds. It’s pretty difficult to hide in such a small place. He tells us he is not so fine today, but still alive. In other words, can I have some more money? We politely ignore the hint and dodge into a shop. He departs without a fuss.
We pop in to see one of the amigos and have a bit of a chat and a cup of coffee. He confirms that we are too late to do anything significant but he can recommend the museum. It’s only small but it has a lot of information on Creel and the local community. Hang on a mo...we need to pace ourselves - we had decided to maybe do this tomorrow once we have been evicted from our room? :-)
I am contemplating buying some of the Indian fabric to have some trousers run up but Ian declares I am far too old for such bright colours! To be honest, they are probably not me. I don’t mind the bright colours but the designs are a bit flowery and fussy. :-)
We return to the hotel for an afternoon
of card games, sprawled out in the sunshine on the comfy sofas. Well, we have definitely had a good rest here.
It’s late afternoon and we hear the express train come through - last chance to dwell on what might have been! Speaking of which, I have been chasing Maria for our refund. Talk of the devil, an email pops up - we should get our refund in 3 working days...and if we don’t then don’t bother complaining to her, refer to our credit card provider! Charming. We are still not holding our breath!
This evening we return to the restaurant that serves smoothies in jam jars with handles! I am having fish and chips and Ian has ordered steak. Both are delicious!
