does anyone know what the road is like bewteen san cristobal de las casas and palenque and can you drive there direct by hire car? how long does it take? also like to drop in on agua azul on the way if poss. any advice gratefully accepted

I live in Canberra Australia, we (my husband and I) spent 7 mths in latin america in our 20s in 1986-87. I had my 26th birthday in Nicaragua. My husband (who got hepatatis in Bolivia!) and I are taking our two kids - 15 year old twins to Mexico for their first trip to the Americas. Looking for tips on how it is there now.... full info
