The last few days of the trip have flown by. One day was just veggie around the hotel and swimming etc.We decided to go out to dinner at Ono’s a great Hawaiian restaurant. After walking a couple of kilometers we found that to our dismay Onos was closed, but on a whim we decided to walk a little further and found a great feed at ‘A taste of the Bayou’ A taste sensation from the south including gumbo, jambalaya and fried green tomatoes. It was worth the walk the last day was packed with activity, a typical American breakfast of eggs, bacon and pancakes with whipped butter and maple syrup. Then on to the local bus for a trip to the Dole pineapple plantation where we were introduced to many species of pineapple and tropical plants. Then off to the Waiema bay and pipeline on the north shore. Not that the waves were very big, but more wipeout material. On the bus going to the Dole plantation we met a lovely young girl Sibel who was from Germany/Turkey and was a grad. Students at Princeton University on the east coast. We stopped of in a town which was reminiscent of Mullumbimby to try out the most famous shrimp cart. That, plus the fruit we had bought at the plantation made for a great lunch. The local bus continued its journey and we circled the whole island in the afternoon. You can strike up some fabulous conversations on buses with other travelers as well as the locals, and then home to pack and get ready to leave. I made one big mistake that was to try and have the snow globes in my hand luggage DUH, they are full of WATER!! So had to hurriedly repack and get on the plane - on the way home
