view of our house from the road. August (entered in Jan 2011, but happened in August 2010)
Well, we started out on this adventure back in August and I have sent scattered emails to friends and family about our adventures here in Quebec. But I hate to fill your inboxes with photos you might not be interested in and it is hard to remember who to send to each time. So, as suggested by a friend, a blog would be smarter. Finally I have decided that this site seems to make sense for me and I will try to get started. Hopefully it will be easier to capture all the thoughts I have about our experience.
Let's start with a look back to the beginning for those friends whom I haven't managed to send emails to. Because this is a public site and hubby C is paranoid about that, I will probably not post any pictures of my boys that are close up, so friends, you may still see the odd email come through of funny boy adventures.
We (husband,2 boys and I) decided to take on the adventure of leaving home (Alberta) for a year and living in Quebec while C (husband) was managing a project

view of the house from the side. the driveway is such that you approach from the side. there. It would be a great chance for P (grade 2) to really improve his french skills (and for mom too), and for all of us to have more family time and explore a new region. We had been to Quebec in the Montreal area many times to see family and I had been to other areas with work, but living in a place really lets you experience it. Because we know we are here for just a year, we are really trying to experience as much as we can. This blog will act as my way to remember our experiences and for friends and family to get a feel of the area. Quebec really is about as European as you can get without actually going across the ocean! So this is my little "Year in Provence" type of adventure. As my sister said, it is kind of like the writer in the Edmonton Journal who took his family to France for the year and wrote about their adventures. I am certainly not much of a writer and probably get too long winded, but hope you enjoy my rambles anyway.
I have enclosed a couple pictures of our house

view of our temporary home, as viewed from the back field in August for the year. The location is ideal, just on the edge of town, originally the ancestral family farm house that has been completely redone. The property is narrow and a combination of fields, bush and stream, and eventually goes all the way down to the Riviere St. Anne. it is almost a half hour walk to the river but we loved to walk down for picnics in summer / early fall. the part throught he bush is quite a downhill stretch so the trip back is always a struggle with the boys. We are about 45 minutes from downtown Quebec City too so that is great for exploring Old Quebec - one of my favorite places.

Hi Tracy
Good going. You may wish to date your blogs as they actually happened. Publishing dates and blogging dates need not be the same. I mean if they happened in early 2010 , go ahead and date them as such, even if you are publishing the blogs in 2011. I have quite a few blogs on my travels as far back as 1996 which i published only in 2008. Welcome to TravelBlog!
