I'm leaving in a few hours. Once again, I've left packing for the last minute. Hopefully this travel blog - - which would have been a godsend when I was on the road in Southeast Asia for 16 months in 1999-2000 - - will help me capture my thoughts and let you know what's happening in the holy land while I'm there for two weeks.
The truth is that I am nervous about heading to a "hotspot" - life has been treating me quite well of late, and I'd hate to suffer the fate of George Costanza (from Seinfeld), who after finally finding his calling as a hand model, injures himself by falling into a hot clothes iron. More when I arrive. I promise to keep this up as long as people are reading it.
