Tairua
Big flip flops too fill G'Day mates
Well we had two fantasic days in Tairua, North Island, New Zealand... our first day was hot, humid and sunny, and even with jetlag we managed to do a lot.
First place we walked was to the Gazebo, 10 minutes from our B&B, where we found a gazebo overlooking a great view of the harbours - Tairura stands for two harbours, two tides.
We continued checking out the local area for at least an hour walk where we found New Zealanders' to be very friendly especially when you're misplaced. After scouting our the town we took a short ferry ride to Pauanui a place with a beautiful beach and huge summer homes - they also surf on this beach.
On our second day we had rain, but that didn't stop us. We travelled by car on a very windy road to Cathedral Cove where we hiked to the beach-Cathedral Cove- it took at least 45 minutes up and over a hill to get close to the beach, then we had to use ropes and slide down a steep muddy hill to get to the bottom, but it was sooo! worth the effort. The view and scenery was amazing and

view from the gazebo the rain held off for the most part.
Next we went to the Hot Water Beach (20 minute drive north of Tairua) - we had to wait for low tide before we could go... with a small shovel in hand off we went of to dig into the sand and create a hot tub... when the tide goes out you look for oozing steam holes in the sand and you dig until you get hot steamy water and lay in it like a hot tub. At one spot the sand was bubbling and was so hot it would burn your feet it you stood too long.
Then we took a drive up the coast of Coromandel Peninsula... very beautiful coast line.
It's off the Rotorua tomorrow for three days. new Zealand is beautiful...
