ENTRY 47— February 28th 1990 Pistolet Bay Trinity College was and is an Anglican seminary. While I had been away, my good friend and mentor Dr. R.K. Harriman had retired at age 70. "Bryan!" he said when he saw me. "How do you feel about moving to Newfoundland?" "Well...." He continued, "You have acquired the reputation of a priest who likes a little travel and adventure. One of of our favorite youth fellowship events was the snow shoveling contest. After a large snowfall the youth of the Harbor would gather in front of my house. They would have 15 minutes to see who was the fastest snow shoveler. The victor got a prize!

Hi Bryan and Mianda!
Hi Bryan and Mianda! My maiden name was Janet Cull, my brother is Michael and little sister is Angel Cull. I moved to Goose Bay, Labrador when I was 16 and did my last year of high school here. That was a few moons ago and since than I have went through many changes and experiences. I am now married and have two boys. Nicko is 10 and Ethan will be 7 this summer. Some of my friends that you should know still lives quite close to me. Trina Green, Seymore Green's daughter who is now Trina Coles lives not far, and Nadine Laing who is now Nadine Heath lives just up the road a little. We are all grown now with families of our own. It was really nice seeing all the old pictures of home and remembering all the times we all used to have. Write back! Janet Patey

You have my permission
QUESTION Hi Bryan and Miranda, My name is Andrea Short and I am from Cook's Harbour, Newfoundland, and I am now attending the College of the North Atlantic in St. John's, taking graphic design. For one of my projects, we have to complete a 56-page magazine, all our own. I'm basing mine on Newfoundland, its history and culture, and just stories about the Island. I came across your story and have read it over and over many times. Mostly wondering about Nigel Fox, as, I guess, many did. But I was wondering if I could use parts of your journal in a story I am writing for my magazine. Mostly the part about coming to Cook's Harbour and everywhere you went, people kept telling you it was the worst weather, in canada, in newfoundland, on the northern peninsula, and in the community itself. It would be greatly appreciated to use this. But I understand if you wouldn't want me to. All the Best. Thank you, Andrea ANSWER You have my permission to use our blog. Note. We have changed the name to 'Nigel" and others. You will likely be able to figure out their real names. We request that you do not leak them. Bryan

Boat Harbour
Well it was a great surprise when I did a search today on the internet for Cook's Harbour and came across your journals. It seems like a lifetime ago since you were in Cook's Harbour. I have often wondered what had happened to you. The two of you were awesome when it came to getting young people involved in the church. No other reverends showed such interest. I have such fond memories of our meetings for the youth fellowship at your house. I am at work right now and have had only enough time to scan a couple of the journals. I have to admit that my interest and curiosity have been heightened about Nigel Fox. I would appreciate any information that you can give me. I look forward to hearing from you! Regards, Charmaine Elliott (Ress and Sharon’s daughter if it helps you to remember)

Entry 47--Boat Harbour & Cook's Harbour
Good to hear from you both. I visited Newfoundland at the invitation of a priest frien, Ken Abbott in December 2009. I did meet Bps Percy Coffin and Bishop david Torreville. Bishop Fred was leaving on a visit overseas, so I did not meet him. Sadly this did not result in my being offered a parish there.I am now 61 and it would seem that working overseas is no longer an option for me , given the many hurdles one has to surmount with Immigration authorities, but am considering a parish offer from kimberley and Kuruman to serve as a priest their.(I was ordained here in the Philippines in May2010. I am still in the Philippines teaching at Brent School in Subic. I trust that your travels are rewarding , interesting and refreshing. keep in touch. Michael Rossouw (ex Christ Church Bangkok)

Hello from John, working in Doha, resting in Bangkok
Dear Brian and Melissa, I am glad to find you very much alive and well. I guess Canada had a stronger calling than Mexico. Does that mean you are more warm blooded to survive the northerly chills than cold blooded to bask in the southerly heat? I certainly know you both have big hearts to share with so many others. Best Regards, John.
