Well it certainly does not pay to be writing this log at midnight as mistakes are made. It is April and not March.

Day 46, April 29th
Last night we stayed in Brookings, Oregon (called the Carmel of Oregon).
We left early (early for Kirk 9:30) and drove to Samoa and had breakfast family style at the Samoa Cook House. A memory for Kirk as he had breakfast here 40 years with David and Hazel on a canoe picking up mission. It was amazing to see all the old pictures of the loggers cutting down the huge redwoods.

We stopped at the Paul Bunyan and his Blue Ox museum and the Trees of Mystery. Interesting to real about.
This was our second day of rain and more rain. At times very heavy and then the sun would come out.
Another day driving through the massive redwood trees,

We have now left California and entered into Oregon. What a spectacular coast it is. Such beauty is hard to believe. The temperature is in the 50's with off and on sun and rain. Who cares it is all magnificent. Today we drive 300km and stop in Florence, Oregon.

To-day we continue our drive north on Scenic Highway 101 which winds all along the coast. We stop to take a dune buggy ride but it is not going to happen. Our timing is off. We take a long drive out one of the jetties to take pictures of the dunes. While we are there a siern blasts for about 5 minutes. It is a tsunami warning practice drill signal. We don't know this and is scares the dickens out of me. There are signs all up the coast with warnings and instructions in case a tsunami hits.
We then continue to the Cave of the Seals. Kirk was unable to go to the cave as it was down 37 stairs and then a long walk way to the elevator. We did see them swimming in the ocean.

We stayed to-night in Lincoln after only driving 150km. Dinner at a great Chinese Restaurant.
Our condo was right on the beach. It is so soothing to hear the waves all night long and to smell the fresh sea air.

Day 48, May 1 (Dancing around the May Pole)
We stopped at the Tillamook Cheese Factory for

lunch and a tour of the factory. Amazing place.
We were only able to get as far as Olympia, Washington and I was too tired to go on. So we did not make Vancouver as planned.
We had enough points with Choice Hotels that tonight at the Comfort Inn was free. this is good!

Day 49, May 2
We left very early for us at 8:15 to meet Brad and Wendy Franklin at the Tawwassen Ferry Terminal for lunch. Wendy has painted an amazing paddle for Kirk that gives tribute to all the achievements in his life in art form on the paddle. It is truly beautiful and very creatively presented .Brad also gave Kirk a wonderful teak model of a dugout canoe. Thank you. Kirk will now definitely have to run behind the car as there is not any room for him. How can a car get so full?
We visited with Jim Clarke (brother oF Wilma Miller/Bill Miller canoe builder in New Brunswick) at Agusta House in Delta, BC. They exchange funny hats every time they see each other. So yet another exchange was made.
We arrive at Carel Wilkins in Vancouver at 7:15.
We will be

in Vancouver for two days and then on Wednesday morning we leave for Kelowna.
