Butchart Gardens
The entry to the gardens
Wow!! Wow! Wow!! The contential breakfast was awesome!!!!!! We had eggs iwth churrizo, baked items, toaster muffins, bagels, strawberries, watermelon, cantalope, smoked salmon, yougurt and granola parfaits, and 5 kinds of juice!! There was also tea and coffee. It was great!! We went back to the room for a bit and worked on the pictures until it was time to leave for our Butchart Gardens tour!! We went down t meet the bus and took the 40 min trip over. It was good. The driver gave a narrative the whole way and was really informative. We arrived and walked through. The gardens were stunning!!!!! We enjoyed them immensly. A definite must see. They smelled wonderufl. We hope ot come back in the summer with the girls and see all the roses in bloom. I can't say enough about the gardens. The flowers were spectacular, the grounds are immaculate, the wandering about was so fun!!!! We saw waterfalls, fountains, every color of flowers, lush beautiful scenery. Lots and lots and lots of Tulips. Not to mention a lot of Tulips. Oh and a couple of Pwnees ;P.
After getting back from the garden, we went out and walked around town a little
Sunken Garden
This is the sunken garden area. more. We went to this shop that imports all their stuff directly from ireland. We were looking at some awesome cloaks and coats that were 100%!w(MISSING)ool and then took a look at the price tag. $500 for a cloak was a little higher than we wanted to pay but boy was that wool soft and warm. Guess ill just have to make Jenn sew some when we get back. After there we went back to the Irish Times Pub to get a picture of the celtic knot they use as their logo because it is cool. Then as we were walking around we just happen to wander into the liquor store and a bottle of Sambuca and a bottle of wine followed us all the way back to our room. Not sure what we are going to do with it but im sure we will figure something out. So after getting back to the room we spent the next hour or so uploading all the pics to photobucket until it was time to go to our "
High Tea"
High Tea was absolutely awesome too. We check in and get seated and they bring out a fuit cup first
Fiddle Head Ferns
These are the Fiddle Faddle Head ferns. Your welcome Stephie ;) with fresh fruit. It had cantelope, melon, strawberries and pineapple. SOmehow they had all the fruit that was ripe and had flavor too. Crazy! After that they brought out a pot of tea. We chose the Emperess house blend tea. It has 6 different teas in it. Teas from Kenya, India, Assam, Sri Lanka, and China. It was PDG. They even put the sugar and milk in your cup for you and pour it in. Of course we drank it with Pinkies Up!! After the tea they bring out a threee tiered tray with sandwiches and pastries and sweets. The sandwiches were curry chicken, cucumber, carrot ginger, smoked salmon, and a egg salad kind of thing on a thin sloce of bread. That was the first tier. The second tier had fresh scones with strawberry jam and jersey cream. We have never had cream like that it was very thick and very tasty 😊. There was a cream puff that i ate and thought it was pretty good. I didnt see inside it though. Jenn took a bite and inside it was green. Turns out is was a green tea white chocolate cream filling. There also was a cherry almond
Jenn
Jenn and some cool flowers
something or other that was pretty good too. The top tier had a shortbread cookie, a cranberry and lemon curd tart and a tadye4 truffle. All the while with the classical music playing in the background. It was very nice.
Next was horse de overies time. Once again delicious. They had the usual smoked salmon and tuna and shrimp, fruit, baked brie and bread but this time they had beef sautee yumm yumm!! So we sat there and enjoyed the sheer elegance again while watching the seagulls come up to the window and beg for food. After that we headed up to check out the highest floor in the hotel but there wasnt anything up there. Not even a window 😞 so we went back down and headed to the hot tub. Ahhhhh how relaxing after a hard day of touristing. Now it is time for survivor and CSI and some sambuca and red wine and fudge.
