After Jasper we drove 4 hours to the Elk Island National Park 30 mins east of Edmonton. The main attraction at this park is the herd of wild bison that roam the park (buffalos). Joy and Gary has experiences seeing bison up close in Custer State Park and Yellowstone and wanted to give Finley the same experience. The park has a bison loop road where the bison sometimes roam. On the first evening we were disappointed that the bison were only viewable in a far away field. Finley spotted them but were too far away for pictures. We decided to get up early the next morning and try again. The bison did not disappoint. We got to see bison on the side of the road and a large herd (hundreds) in a field on the bison loop road. The morning we left we also encountered bison traffic jams. Finley was ecstatic.
