I actually slept in til almost 11 today! I woke up for about an hour around 6, but then crashed again. I waited for the lunch buffet that had been so amazing last week, but was severely disappointed. I must have come to an unusual event last time. Oh well. So, I just decided to take some food to my room. I chose a steak sandwich. Big mistake. The steak was hard as a rock and it was just gross. The fries were ok; it kept me from starving.
Joevet, Joselet and their cousin came to pick me up at 2 to go to the Dubai Mall, which is near Burj Khalifa. Joevet and I needed to pick out a dress for tomorrow's dinner. This mall is even better than the Mall of the Emirates, which just has a dinky ski slope... Dubai Mall has an aquarium, a skating rink, a giant indoor fountain waterfall, and the Burj. I tried on a bunch of dresses, and the mall was especially packed as apparently this is the start of the big sale season. I bought two work shirts and a dress today, that I may wear tomorrow night if I can't
bring myself to shop again...
I took the girls out for dinner at CPK, which I've never eaten at before. They showed me where the fountain show was with the Burj Khalifa in the background; it starts at 7 everynight and goes every 30 minutes. I think they were getting tired, so we parted ways while I continued dress and shoe shopping (unsuccesfully - how is that possible??). I made it back out for the 8:00 show, stopped at the super market, toured the indoor souk, watched some traditional Arabian dance, and made my way to the bus, which would take me to the metro. I have little success on public buses: the ones in Finland are good, Nottingham not too shabby, Disney World awesome, but everywhere else makes me want to get off the next stop and walk, no matter how far it is! I was wondering why I didn't just take a cab and in seeming answer to my question, we drove by the line for taxis and I just told myself it would all be over soon...
The people here tend to be nice one on one, but in public they are pretty rude. I
was pretty tired and crabby after having spent 7 hours at the mall, but I just could not believe how pushy everyone was when we were all going to the same place. It's one thing to fight your way through the crowd when the automatic metro doors are closing, but when the bus driver waits for everyone to get off, there is no reason to throw elbows b*tches.
Anyway, I made it home and I apparently walked over 15,000 steps today, which is apparently 7.5 miles. My knees hate me at the moment. Tomorrow morning is gym and pool time and if I can make the effort back again to the Mall of the Emirates where I WILL buy a dress!
In the meantime, enjoy the pictures. I will try to figure out how to upload videos, which I took of the traditional arab dancing...Just so you know, this website is kind of lame sometimes and for some reason, my photo "Me and the Fishies" was relabelled to Indoor Souk and there are a few other funny ones... You'll get the drift though!

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing! Do they actually sell surfboards at the Roxy store?
