Last night I ate at a place called Heritage Village in Dammam, which looks like an Arabian castle. Keep in mind that there aren't tourists in Saudi, so this place survives on the locals; most were traditionally dressed. (Just what makes a building qualify as a “village” is another Saudi mystery I cannot solve.) The building is privately owned, which is pretty amazing in itself. It looks li... Read Full Entry

You have to have a long stream of coffee to do it the right way. Those cups are tiny and hard to hit!

I want to wear one of those daggers to work. People tend to agree with you more when you are wearing a dagger.

Yes, they have a perfumary where you can buy incense, special wood to burn, and amazingly -- perfume. Andrej gives it a sniff.

Food, food, food
Ted this is the best foodie report of the three trips. Great pixs. I am sure you will miss good middle eastern food when you get home, but not the weather. We are jealous. We are sharing a chicken salad sandwich from Ben's.

Puffy Bread
In India they call the puffy bread Puri, but they deep fry it instead of putting it in a hot oven. As soon as you bite into it, it collapses, but is very good.

Puffy Bread
This didn't collapse when you bite into it. It still tasted like pita bread.

Great adventure
Hello I like your article as you select simple topic which is telling us about your restaurant outing but for me its more deeper as restaurant is one of main concern that visitors to a country or even resident think alot about it as we enjoy our time not only in museum or mall but one unique restaurant outing can made our day. The best thing i like about your article that you not only tell us about your experience in this great restaurant but you also describe all details starting from restaurant decoration, welcoming drink and food as if you give us review about this restaurant and in my point of view tourists need to visit such restaurant not only to take great dinner but also to know more about Saudi culture which is reflected in this restaurant decoration, food and drinks also you can smell middle east through such outing Thanks for your great lines

Dinner in Dammam
I have not looked at this website in a long time, but ran across your comment today (April 3, 2019). Thank you so much for your very nice comment. I have not visited Saudi Arabia in quite some time (since 2012), and I miss it. I learned much about the Saudi culture and wish that more Americans had the opportunity to do so. Again, thank you very much for your comments, Kayla.
