First of all, let me say I am definitively in Qatar for another month to help out with work. Still don't know how long I'll be here - maybe longer! I do really enjoy the work here and they are so busy! Project after project comes in and all need help. I guess I'll know more next week, but I'm going back to Dubai for the next two weekends: this weekend to get some more stuff since I'll be here longer, the second to go to some big Rugby festival... game... match... something like that!
Melvin and I will have thanksgiving this weekend in some way - either we'll cook or we'll just do a brunch. I can't believe I am completely (COMPLETELY!) missing my absolute favorite holiday! I've often been away from home, but I always had friends to cook with or friends' families to visit or Vegas with a big group... where our friends did actually dress up and go to a thanksgiving buffet (even brought Ron chicken nuggets for his dinner when he woke up). Ah, memories. Anyway, I may not even get turkey this year and what kind of t-giving is that????
Moving on...
Besides being super busy at work and going home to sleep and eat, I have done practically nothing. Isn't that sad? I think one of the reasons I'm so tired, besides the prevalent dust in the air, is because I have nothing to do everyday. So, I'm either going to get a personal trainer or join a soccer league or maybe a cycling club. I need to do something - I do not like coming home to a bed and only a bed everyday.
I leave in the morning around 6:40 and hope to get to the office by 8:00. The weather has become beautiful and this morning I rolled down my window to breath in some fresh, non-A/C air... only to take a deep breath and quickly cough due to the car fumes, construction debris, and sewage smell pervading the air... I rolled up my window in record time, but the smell persisted for another 10 minutes. Yum.
Finally, the most exciting thing to happen in Qatar happened today - a friggin THUNDERSTORM!!!! Like pouring down rain, thunder and lightening! I was in dorky pbot heaven! It lasted a while too and flooded many streets, so I
left work early so I would not get caught in the dark. Fortunately I had Indiana, the stunt driver, who took us to our meeting today. He crossed over barren desert to short cut pass roundabouts and passed some poor guy in the flooded streets in the Beast. The guy we passed had his windows down - need I say more?
And yes, sadly - that is it. This is my life at the moment. Not nearly as exciting as Dubai is it? This is partially the reason I've slowed down the blogs. The other reason is that my internet connection at my hotel sucks and I just can't be bothered. I guess you'll have some more information over the next couple of weeks with my trips home coming up.
Until next time...
