On the 15th August 2007, an 7.9 earthquake devastated the city of Pisco, Peru and the surrounding areas. It destroyed large parts of the city leaving 80%!o(MISSING)f the people without homes and causing many deaths. It’s been over one year since the disaster and there are still a huge amount of people without housing and adequate sanitation.

Pisco Sin Fronteras is an organisation giving help to people who most need it by building houses, schools, sanitation units and helping with other community-based projects. We are people from the community working for our own community. We are inviting volunteers to be a part of this city’s reconstruction and, with your support, help people to get their lives back on track.

You can join in for as much time as you can spare, whether a few days or a few months. Bed and full board are provided for 15 soles per day (approx 5 dollars).

The focus of our work is reconstruction so you could be mixing and pouring concrete, clearing a site, brick laying, digging foundations, plumbing or painting. We are also often involved in community projects so help to clear up areas of the town, paint murals, or become involved in events with school children. We focus on the needs of the community working closely with other local organisations and speaking to local people to see what they need. Many of our projects are started as a result of local people coming to our door to ask for help. Although a year has passed there is still a lot of work to be done, with many families still living without adequate sanitation and living in tents or temporary homes.

Most urgently needed: volunteers with any construction experience, donations, tools. Even the smallest donation or simple spare parts can be of great use!
