Just a starter message here with a little information for all people interested, now or in the future, hopefully you will get as enthusiastic about edible insects as we are!

We are a group of masters students from the UK looking to travel to Benin in October and November 2012 to explore the wonders of edible insects. Yes, gruesome some might thinks, but insects are eaten across the globe in the majority of countries, and form a valuable nutritional and economic income for millions of people. So why cant they become a valuable part of our cuisine and economy as well?

In Benin we aim to identify different insects which are eaten in the north of the country, assess the impact of harvesting on the environment and explore the potential for developing farming of insects for the economic benefit of local people.

Looking forward to the challenge.
