Gospel Pass to Knighton

Day 16 Gospel Pass - Hay - Kington - Presteigne - Knighton 33miles (475)

Another bright day with a lift to the top of the pass to start with an easy down hill run. Five and a half miles in fact down to Hay covered in about 20 minutes! After a quick look around Hay I cycled on along the Wye valley for a few miles to cross the toll bridge. A canoeing group were enjoying the river under the rather rickety old wooden bridge. After a short piece of main road I climbed up the minor roads for the scenic route over to Kington coming down from the hill with good views of the Hergest ridge. Good views of dipper, grey wagtail and kingfisher in the river where I stopped for a brew.
Kington is a nice uspoilt little town with market hall and clock tower characteristic of the welsh borders. A fairly easy run on to Presteigne , an even smaller unspoilt town and then a bit of a slog over the hill to the final stop of the day at Knighton where I picked up my lift home.
