Loch Ness
A Scottish country homes. How lovely! We got up at 7 am, and tried to sneak out Mr. Gordon’s house as soon as possible to get into the meeting place for the Highland Tour. We didn’t want Mr. Gordon to drive us there, because we thought his help was too much. The walk up the Edinburgh hills, with all our belongings, was not so fun. We needed to be at the Magnificent Mile before eight, otherwise the tour would leave without us. The good news was that we arrived at the bus right before eight. The bad news was that Mr. Gordon showed up at the same bus minutes before the departure, and confronted us not to wait for him to drive us there. He was so demanding, but yet I realized that he just wanted us to enjoy our Scottish experience to the fullest. Thanks Mr. Gordon!
We saw amazing views of the Scottish highland; it seemed so unreal to see the Braveheart landscape. We saw so many things, so I decided to list them and gave some descriptions/what I thought of them.
Bathgate - Alexander Flemming (penicillin).
Seven Sisters Hill.
We drove pass Glasgow - an industrial city that reminded me
of Detroit.
Loch Lomond National Park and Trossach
Right before we approached Loch Lomond, our bus driver played our theme song of the day, “Loch Lomond”. Supposedly, house at Loch Lomond is only sold to Loch Lomond people, which you needed to be born here in order to own a property. We stopped at Luss, a village by Loch Lomond for breakfast and pit stop. We were wondering around to the edge of the loch, and saw some police diving at the lake. We thought they were looking for dead bodies, but someone told us that they were practicing. Yeah, right! We never found out what they did.
Glencoe, which supposedly to be the MacDonald’s land. We passed by Harry Potter movie shooting by Loch Be, after the Bridge of Orchy. We heard that HP3 was filming around the Highland that week, but not in a million years we have thought we were about to see it live. So when the bus had to stop to wait for the right of lane, we saw many trailers, people, helicopters, cameras, and even some actors. Ryan swore that he saw Daniel Radcliff, the Harry Potter actor.
Three Sisters Hill
Whisky shop
A national drink of Scotland, and we spotted some nice ones at the Magnificent Mile in Edinburgh. and Secret Valley.
Ballachulish by the Loch Linnhe. Ballachulish meant the meeting of two rivers.
Fort Williams for lunch, I ordered the Haddock Scottish (the Fish and Chips). Finally I had a chance to enjoy an authentic Fish and Chips ala Scotland!
Ben Navis whiskey distillery, people who lived in this area were bilingual, English and Gaelic.
Spean Bridge.
Loch Ness, we were here for about 1.5 hours, free time. Cruising the Loch would be £6, so instead we decided to walk around, looking for the Nessie (we took pictures with the silly sculpture of Nessie, with little Nessie’s mouth for donation). It was a pretty place, they had a cool canal system connecting two Lochs and allowing boats to pass through.
Overall I really enjoy the tour. Too bad we had to go back to England the next day, and continued on our journey to see Europe.
