We haven't had a Winnie the Pooh story for quite some time.
Winnie the Pooh arrived at his house on Monday morning and the ground was white - he also noticed a slow puncture in one of his tyres, but that's not very relevant.
His friend Thumper liked the snow and spent all day catching snowflakes, ending up with white whiskers like an arctic explorer.
At lunchtime, when all the sensible people had gone home for lunch and he was all alone in the house, Winnie the Pooh decided to do some work. He climbed carefully up the stepladder and stretched, but he couldn't quite reach. So he climbed right to the top of the stepladder and reached again. Suddenly he woke up sitting on the ground with a very sore head. Winnie the Pooh had fallen off the ladder, hit his head on the concrete and knocked himself out. The ladder came off worse though - it's twisted and won't stand up straight without a piece of wood under one leg. Winnie the Pooh has promised to be VERY CAREFUL on ladders because it's VERY EASY to fall off.
Later that day Winnie the Pooh tried
to drive his car back up the track and couldn't, because it was too snowy. His sensible friend Tober had taken the precaution of taking his car to the end of the track before the snow got too deep. Winnie the Pooh became worried that he wouldn't get home, but he got a tow to the road end with Andy's truck and the roads had all been treated, so it was fine.
I got some time off work and went up by train and bus on Tuesday afternoon - it takes about 4 hours from Tollcross in Edinburgh to Tombreck by public transport, but much of that time is spent hanging round Callendar waiting for a bus to Killin.
I was in the house on Saturday and today's Wednesday... a huge amount of progress has been made in a short time. Bounce has finished the living room wall, the kitchen wall and the wall between the larder and the shower room. He's started on the utility room and shower room too, so we can now see the shape of all the rooms. Ewan and Willy have put in almost all the stud walls, made the carcass for a
Rosy Dawn
Rosy dawn didn't happen till at least 8.30 otherwise I wouldn't have seen it. The temperature was minus 7C according to the gauge on Ewan's solar panels fitted wardrobe for our bedroom, and worked out the best place for the chimney pipe to go. They've also joisted the central area, leaving just enough room for the staircase. Unfortunately I didn't take the camera upstairs, because it's a hassle climbing up the new ladder.
I chipped bits of mortar off the floor, swept up and started moving stuff into the shed, ready for the big leap forward, (insulating the ground floor and screeding it), which means that we can't have anything on the ground floor for weeks.
Back home now... off to Amsterdam in the morning - weather permitting.
Not a lot to add, progress has been good, the mountains, trees, loch and even the brambles and other weeds covered in sparking snow-frost have all been stunning. Tombreck at possibly its prettiest.
Having said that I'm really looking forward to a few days off!
