Day trip to Edinburgh Castle, Jase & I took the train to Edinburgh, this was a two & half hour journey through the most spectacular countryside you will ever see, just breathtaking. Arrived in Edinburgh around 12.30pm, right on lunchtime, walked up to a restaurant called Le Mondes. Had a great meal.....little won tons of Haggis with a whisky dipping sauce & spring rolls for entree, lovely. For the main I had Cannon Lamb & Mash, while Jase choose Bangers, Mash with Carmalised Onions, it was one of the best meals I have while I have been away.........very tasty. Time to head out & catch the Edinburgh tour bus, which took us all around the city, this place is spectacular, all the little alley ways & cobblestones streets just amazing. Every where you look there is something special to look at, great place for tourists, everything you need to buy is down the Royal Mile. More shopping for myself, the girls & my nieces, got lots of little gifts here, they are going to love opening up my new suitcase........Got off at Edinburgh Castle, just majestic in everyway possible, on a massive scale, this structure is literally hanging off the side of
a cliff top. spent roughly an hour looking through the castle & taking in all the history that goes back centuries, a wonderful experience. To have spent this time with Jase, one of Mark's best friends has been wonderful, we have been re-living all our great times we spent back in Freeling when we were all living together, what happy memories. These times we will never forget & take with us where ever we go. Jase & Becc have the most amazing travel guides, its been wonderful, no stress, no issues just pure great moments & experiences that we are enjoying together........& we will have these moments for the rest of our lives....would not change a thing right now.....luvin this journey.
Walked the Royal Mile & yes its a long one, luckily it is all down hill to Queens Park.....arrived here to find that this weekend was the Scottish National Event called "THE GATHERING". Got a ticket from someone walking out of the event so no need to purchase tickets, walked in & it felt like a Vintage Festival, lots of food, wine, dancing & good times were to be had here. Jase & I headed straight for the bar,
had to get a pint of beer, nice & cold they were. Walked around watching all these Scottish men & women in kilts.......had to get a photo with scotsman......went looking. Watched the most amazing Highland Dancers, extremely talented girls & beautiful looking. Went over to the stand & sat down to enjoy our beer, they were announcing the winners of The World Champion of the Games, there are 10 events you have to complete & then it comes down to the best 12 men who compete for the title. As we were sitting there, the names were called out & the winner goes to Aaron Neighbour........an Australian.......The World Champion.....Jase & I were so proud to be Aussies right at that moment.....hooray!!!!
Jase said to me I know that guy, he is a friend of Jase's best mate back in Australia, so we went to talk to Aaron & yes got a photo with the World Champion, how good is this. He was built like a brick & towered over me like a giant....felt very tiny at that moment. Very nice & generous guy. Left the Gathering with our t-shirts & walked back to the bus stop to catch it
back up to the train station. Jase & I were exhausted by this time.... got on the train around 7.00pm & arrived home in Aberdeen around 9.45pm.......very tired again but what a great day I had with Jase.........packing tomorrow to head off to London for 3 days.......then fly direct to New York for 4 days......Until then........
