On Saturday, we drove up north and visited Dunrobin Castle. It looks like a fairytale castle. We also stopped into a couple of villages.
Sunday was a day of rest.
On Monday we went west and visited Brodie Castle, Elgin Cathedral, the Moray Motor Museum and Duffus Castle. Brodie Castle is furnished and was great. Duffus was a ruins and not much of it was left. The Motor museum was small, but it had a very good collection of cars and the curator gave us a personal tour. Elgin Cathedral was very nice, too.
On Tuesday, we did a loop around Loch Ness. We also stopped at Foyer Falls and did some hiking and pics.
Wednesday we were at the Black Isle and toured Cromarty village in the rain.
Thursday was a day off.
Friday, we went to Carr Bridge, Grantown-on-Spey and Nairn. Carr Bridge was built in the early 1700's so people could cross the river. We stayed at Grantown-on-Spey in 1999, and wanted to revisit it. Nairn has a beautiful beach that we walked. The weather has taken a turn for the worse since Mike and Anne left. Colder, cloudier and rain. The high has been
in the high 50's.
