Our first anniversary
The Highland Club, Fort Augustus, Loch Ness, Scotland We're cuddled on the couch under a big, puffy comforter tonight thinking about the grand adventures of this day...both today and a year ago. Our family and friends surrounded us and watched us exchange our vows and our girls tied our hand fasting cord. A year ago, we never would have guessed we would be here on the banks of Loch Ness .... We truly feel blessed to have found each other and enjoy every second in each other's company. I'm lucky to be able to share my entire self with another soul.
It's 11:00 pm, 5:00 pm back home in a South Dakota and time for the Skype fiesta! We really enjoy visiting the girls with this and it has really kept us all sane while we are apart! Love this technological advancement with the exception that our four-footers are not big Skype fans...dang it....
Today we spent our morning at our favorite restaurant, the Boathouse. It's perfect! Quiet, serenely located right on the Loch, delicious food and awesome service complete with liqueur coffee as well as Clayton's favorite beer, Tennant's. We purposely picked this for this day. We walked in and there were several miniature tornadoes tearing
up the joint...the Fort Augustus play group was holding a get together and fundraiser...there were wayward little rap scallions everywhere! Jumping from sofa to sofa, running around all the tables...total tot chaos! I'm sure many of you are in serious chuckle right now as many of you know my policies of wayward children in restaurants, especially being a server.? ...it's karma for me mock threatening our hosts at the Firehouse Brewing Co. to not seat me with children....Clayton smirked and watched my face distort. We ordered our favorite drinks and laughed with our server. We did have some fun chatter amongst the rattling of running children and the one little two year old that stood behind and to the right of my chair as she stared at me for several minutes...she said nothing, just stared? it was interesting watching the Scots with their young...some were made to behave while others ran a muck...it's the same in every country☺️ What a way to start the day!
I truly loved my driving experience yesterday so we headed up to the Loch Ness Exhibition and visitor's Centre! about thirty miles up the highway. It was interesting! As we've watched the waters of
Loch Ness, we have noticed the peculiar movements this water makes...several different currents, waves whip up out of nowhere, and it is so large that mirages can and do form. The centre was great as they put the sightings to the test and included all the explorer findings...and there still aren't any real answers...for or against really. It covered a great history of this water.

On our way back to the abbey, we stopped in at the Loch Ness Brewery and it felt like our hometown bars immediately! There clearly was a man I'll refer to as my Scottish dad...this man had stories - everyone was gathered around listening - and all of the people were quite friendly. There were pence sitting on the pool table waiting for games and a warm fire going. At one point, three dogs entered the bar and were all greeted by name. One of the dogs came and saw me and I stroked her soft coat. One of the old timers said, "you must be a lucky one...she won't let anyone do that without food! She runs from everyone!" He mentioned "that wee lass is petting her" to my Scottish dad and he
Red NESS
Loch Ness Brewery said,"aye...those bitches all tend to stick together like they always do!"? It seems men all around the world agree on the ways of womenfolk? We spent time today toasting those special to us who are with us and are no longer. It was a grand time.
We enjoyed another day in this great land and can't believe it will soon be ending! Missing this area will be an understatement for us.
