The waters of Loch Ness are dark and mysterious and required further study. It's very peaceful here!
Happy Spring!!! Due to the overcast, we missed the amazing solar eclipse but the day was filled with great gifts on our Scotland adventure. We explored more of the St. benedict's abbey grounds and trekked around Fort Augustus. This thriving village of pop. 650 has charming businesses and niches. We explored more of Loch Ness and just enjoyed the atmosphere. It is chilly here with the wonderful aroma of peat throughout the countryside. Peat is a form of natural energy that gives off a lovely scent....and I believe attributes to the naturally good moods the locals all seem to excude. They will greet all on the streets and in their shops whether they are a customer or working away. It is very refreshing! These people seem to have a slower pace than what we are used to.

The abbey is truly amazing and everything we hoped it would be! Steeped in history, the buildings have stories to tell. Today we explored the rooms, swam in the Chapel pool, soaked up the steam room and Clayton taught me how to play chess in the courtyard! The weather was beautiful with the sun shining for a few hours before a mist arrived

on the scene...and even that was enjoyable.

The food here has been exceptional as well as the coffees and beers. We've enjoyed several fish varieties and local craft beers. We had a pint at The Bothy as the locals were stopping in. It was fun watching them together. We shopped at the petrol station that also acts as a small grocery store. it was a great day of exploring and unwinding as we found ourselves just breathing the fresh air and watching the wildlife and locals. ? No driving today haha

It is very peaceful here...you just feel this land is ancient. I can't put it into words, it just feels old. Stone homes, stone businesses, trees that tower over the landscape with moss blanketing them....and some wired with the occasional street light. Daffodils dot the environment wildly ...We really find ourselves saying, "oh my gosh!" all day and night! We chuckled on our drive here as we saw construction crews encasing the side of a mountain - yes a mountain - with chain link fencing to stop the falling rock....we hope that pans out for them.?

We are going trekking tonight to watch the skies!
